________________________________
John has been in the wine industry since 1972 – more than 40 years – and in an exporting capacity for 23 years now. John started his own wine export agency company, Caselton Wines Pty Ltd, in July, 2010 which specialises in exporting wines throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to this he joined McWilliam’s Wines Group in April, 1995 as their International Trading Manager – a position he held for more than 15 years. Wine is both his hobby and his work and is something that he has a real passion for.
In his current capacity John is responsible for all sales of Caselton Wines’ portfolio of products internationally, albeit with a strong focus on the Asia Pacific region, (these brands include Calder Grove, Inspired Company, The Spee Wah, Little Eden, Jim Brand Icon wines, Baker’s Row, Common Ground wines from the Coonawarra, The Anarchist – a great Shiraz from the Mount Benson region, along with many others ) and in that capacity he visits many interesting foreign market places, each with their own character and requirements. John considers himself very fortunate to have many friends scattered around the world, and particularly in Asia Pacific.
John has judged at several prestigious international wine shows (including in London and Tokyo) and is an experienced Wine Educator and international Wine Marketer.
John is also interested in Champagne, boating, fishing, cars, cricket, rugby union and draught horses, along with a semi-rural way of life. He is married with 4 adult children, 2 boys and 2 girls, and now 2 grandsons, who manage to keep him very busy whenever they all get together.
